WHY WE EXIST

Every Community Needs a Church / Every Church Needs a Community

Festival Church is one church family made up of many congregations, each with a heart to love and care for their local community. We gather regularly to celebrate the goodness and love of God, welcoming everyone to join us on this incredible, transformative adventure of following Jesus.

WHERE DO WE MEET?

We are planning to start a Sunday service in September 2026, but before then, we would love to have coffee with you. In the near future we will run a course explaining the Christian faith with food and great conversations.

QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE

What kind of church are we?

We are a church that loves Jesus, people and are passionate about the Good News of what God has done for humanity through Jesus. We are a Assemblies of God church, and a member of the Evangelical Alliance.

There is no specific dress code so you are welcome to come as you are.

What about Leadership, Governance and Safeguarding?

We value good governance and safeguarding. You can find our Safeguarding Policy HERE, and see who our Senior Pastors and Trustees are HERE

Our local congregations are lead by a Lead Pastor who leads a local leadership team that oversee the ministry of the local congregation.

Our Senior Pastor leads the ministry of Festival Church and our trustees provide governance accountability.

Evangelical?

We are evangelical which simply means:

  • Jesus is central — We believe that God came into the world as a real human being, Jesus. Through Jesus’ life and teaching, people can clearly see what God is like.

  • The cross is central — The heart of the Christian message is that Jesus died on a cross to deal with human wrongdoing and to make a way for people to be restored to God, no matter their background or culture.

  • Personal change (conversion) is important — The message of Jesus becomes real when someone turn away from their wrongdoing and begin living a new life directed toward God.

  • The Bible is central — We believe the Bible is how God has made himself known to people. It contains truth about who God is and how we should live. The Bible is trustworthy and has authority in our lives.

  • Putting faith into action — We believe the message of Jesus should be shared with others and lived out through practical care, helping people and working for good in society.
Why another church?

We believe that there is One Church locally and globally, represented by people who believe in and follow Jesus, united by the Holy Spirit. This group of people, called the church, gather in different buildings and location and they have their own expression of worship. We are One Family, the Family of God and therefore, we do not see ourselves as another church but we have a different worship experience during our Sunday gatherings. We celebrate and pray for all the churches because locally and globally we are One.

YOUR LIFE MATTERS

God's Plan

You are not an accident. A good and holy God created you for Him and to have a personal relationship with Him (Genesis 1:26, Psalm 139:13-18).

God's plan for you is:

  • To know and enjoy Him
  • To reflect His character in the world
  • To live in a loving relationship with others
  • To care for creation

“Let us make mankind in our image…” (Genesis 1:26)

Our Problem

Sadly, our sin has separated us from God. In Genesis 3, humanity rebels against God and we chose to go our own way (Isaiah 53:6).

The consequences of our sin include:

  • Sin entering human nature
  • Separation from God (now and for eternity)
  • Broken relationships
  • Death and suffering in the world
  • The coming wrath of God
God's Solution

God begins a long plan of redemption (rescuing) through the people of Israel, starting with a man named Abraham. God promises that through Abraham’s descendants all nations will be blessed (Genesis 12:3).

Throughout the Old Testament in the Bible:

  • God reveals His law
  • He calls people to turn away from their sin
  • He promises a coming Saviour (Messiah)

Humanity keeps failing. But, the good news is that the promised Saviour came - Jesus, the Son of God!

Jesus lived the life we should have lived and died the death we should have died . . . in our place. Three days later He rose from the dead, proving He is the Son of God and offering the gift of salvation and forgiveness of sins to anyone who repents and believes in Him.

Many people search for spiritual experiences or answers, or strive in their own efforts to find peace or some connection with God. But our efforts can't save us and give us peace with God. God's plan was and forever will be Jesus.

Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6.

(1 Peter 2:24-25, Romans 5:6-11, 1 Corinthians 15:3-7, Ephesians 2:1-10)

Our New Life

When we believe in Jesus Christ, several spiritual realities take place. Scripture describes this not merely as intellectual agreement but trust, repentance, and receiving Christ as Lord and Saviour. The Good News teaches that God acts powerfully in the life of the believer.

Here are the main things Scripture says happen.

1. Our Sins Are Forgiven

Believing in Jesus brings forgiveness of sins because of His death on the cross.

All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.’ Acts 10:43.

Jesus’ sacrifice removes the guilt and penalty of sin.

2. We Are Made Right with God (Declared Righteous)

God declares us righteous, not because of their own efforts (works) but because of Christ.

Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Romans 5:1.

This means we are accepted by God.

3. We Receive New Life (Born Again)

When we believe in Jesus, we experience spiritual rebirth. Jesus told a man named Nicodemus that a person must be “born again” to enter the kingdom of God (John 3:1-21).

This means:

  • A new spiritual life begins
  • Our hearts are changed

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16.

4. We Receive the Holy Spirit

When we believe in Christ, God gives us the Holy Spirit to live in us.

The Holy Spirit:

  • Guides us into all truth
  • Convicts us of sin
  • Empowers us to live holy lives
  • Helps us to tell others about Jesus

5. We Become Children of God

This is amazing! We enter a new relationship with God as Father.

But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. John 1:12.

This means we are adopted into God’s family.

6. We Begin a Life of Transformation

Faith in Jesus starts a process called sanctification—a life increasingly shaped by God, becoming more like Jesus.

This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! 2 Corinthians 5:17.

This means we grows in holiness, love and obedience.

7. We Receive Eternal Life

Through Jesus, God promises us eternal life with Him.

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.1 John 5:11.

This begins now and continues beyond death.

8. We Become Part of the Church

We are united with others who follow Jesus. The church is also called "the body of Christ".

Some of us are Jews, some are Gentiles, some are slaves, and some are free. But we have all been baptised into one body by one Spirit, and we all share the same Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:13.

What Now?
  • Realise that you have sinned and that God is not first in your life and ask Him to forgive you. This is called repentance. The word repent literally means to turn around 180 degrees. When we realise that God has not been first in our lives, we ask him to forgive us and turn our back on our sins, this is the first step.
  • Believe that Jesus died to pay for your sins and that He rose from the dead and is alive today.
  • Accept God’s free gift of salvation. Don’t try to earn it. Our relationship with God is not restored by anything we do, but on the basis of what Jesus already did for us!
  • Invite Jesus Christ to come into your life and be the Lord of your life.

You may have already prayed a similar prayer, but if you haven’t, you can take these steps by praying a simple prayer of commitment to God:

“Heavenly Father, thank you for creating me and for loving me even when I’ve ignored you and gone my own way. I realise I need you, and I’m sorry for my sins. I ask you to forgive me. Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for me. As much as I know how, I want to follow You from now on. Please come into my life by Your Holy Spirit and make me a new person. I accept your free gift of salvation. Please help me to grow now as a child of God.”

We are so excited for you!!!
