About Us

Who We Are

Festival Church is made up of all sorts of people of different ages and backgrounds. We’re down to earth yet passionate about our faith – convinced that following Jesus is the best way to live. We really value the uniqueness of each individual, and just love it when people discover the message of Jesus for themselves. For us, church is a community, and no one should be left on the outside.

To find out more about us, please check out the rest of this website or feel free to contact us directly. We’d love to hear some of your story, and let you know ways you could get involved in the adventure that is Festival Church.

Together with a great team of leaders, Festival Church is led by Senior Pastor Tim Rowlands, with each congregation having its own local Lead Pastor. You can find out more about each Lead Pastor on each site’s local page.

Tim has been the lead pastor at Festival Church Chester since September 2014, joining the Chester site after previously leading North Coast Church in Towyn.

Married to Emily, with four children, in his spare time he enjoys music and mountaineering! To find out what Tim’s up to, you can follow him on Twitter or Instagram.

Our Beliefs

As a church, we affirm the Apostle’s Creed as follows:

We believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
We believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.

He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried.
He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic (universal) Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting.

Our Story

Festival Church began life as three separate congregations with their own stories, which you can find on each local site’s page.

Throughout his move to Chester, Tim felt God calling him to bring individual churches together in a family – a “family of churches” – to see congregations flourish and succeed in as many places as possible, because God always intended for people to be connected. Through this, Festival Churches was born.

With one shared vision (culture and values), shared governance (finance, resources, Trustees and leadership), but locally unique elements, our churches are one church with unique expressions, just like members of a real family.

In 2019, we started the process of legally becoming one church in different locations. Festival Church now has five unique locations across Chester, Derby and Wales

Festival Church is an Assemblies of God church, and a member of the Evangelical Alliance.
