Festival Grants

In 2016, to celebrate Festival Church Chester’s 40th anniversary, we launched Festival Grants. We offered grants of up to £200 for projects and organisations in and around Chester seeking to alleviate social isolation.

Following on from the success of the 2016 project, we continue to run Festival Grants as an annual program.

For 2019, we extended our reach and Festival Grants was offered to organisations near to all of our current Festival Church sites: Chester, Cheshire West, Flintshire, Denbighshire and Conwy.

The closing date for 2019 applications has now passed and grants have been awarded.

Please watch this space for information about the 2020 grant award scheme, which will be launched at the end of summer 2020.

Festival Grants Award Criteria

Local organisations or charities based in the counties of Cheshire West, Flintshire, Denbighshire and Conwy are eligible to apply for a grant of £200-£250 based on the following criteria:

They provide services which best promote and support the integration of those people who by the nature of their age, marital status, physical or mental disability, sexual orientation, ethnicity or ill-health condition, can be “socially isolated”.

The organisation need not be a registered charity; however, it must have a bank account in the name of the organisation.

The services provided can include:

  • Volunteer travel expenses incurred in visiting clients
  • Stationery, postage or other ad hoc administrative costs
  • Advertising costs
  • Purchase of publications or small items of equipment
  • Funding of events / projects.

Restrictions

The grant cannot be used towards:

  • Staff wages or associated on costs
  • Expenditure already made
  • To settle outstanding debt by the organisation or client.

Award

Shortlisted organisations may be invited to an informal meeting at one of the Festival Churches locations (Chester, Prestatyn or Towyn) during the autumn term. This will enable us to better understand the aims, objectives and needs of individual organisations. If your organisation is involved in work with children or vulnerable adults, we will also discuss your processes for safeguarding those groups. Successful applicants will be notified shortly after, and arrangements for payment of the Grant Award by cheque will be made.

Feedback

Recipients of grants awards will be asked to complete a short feedback report after a few months to the awards committee, quotes from which may be publicised or used in media.
